There aren’t many things Kathleen Wynne’s government does that I’m in favour of, but the privatization of Hydro One is a great idea. The Ontario government has done a terrible job managing their electricity generation and distribution assets. Its time to let market forces have a greater impact on electricity prices in Ontario. This will encourage new investment in the sector. Privatizing Hydro One could potentially reduce the province’s financial burden by shifting some of its financial risks related to Hydro One to investors. As an Ontario based investor, I welcome the opportunity to consider owning a stake of Hydro One.
