It was announced recently that the Riviera would be sold to the LVCVA who plans to demolish the hotel/casino in order to build their planned global business district. A demolishion of the Riviera will mean a decrease in 2,100 hotel rooms on the Las Vegas Strip. However, when (if) Resorts World is completed across the street, it will replace those lost rooms and add almost 1,000 more to the market.
